Firefox’s Smart Window adds AI form filling and webpage monitoring

Your browser can now proactively fill forms and notify you about website changes without you needing to ask.

Mozilla has updated Firefox's AI-powered Smart Window feature with two new capabilities: AI form filling and webpage monitoring. The form-filling tool can now extract information from open browser tabs, such as a LinkedIn profile or online portfolio, to pre-populate text fields in web forms like job applications. Users can select which tabs to draw information from, and the AI model used is Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite. The webpage monitoring function allows users to set up "watch" tasks via the Smart Window chat, specifying keywords or updates they are looking for on specific pages. Firefox will then periodically check these pages for changes and notify the user if updates are found, provided the browser is open. These features are initially rolling out to the Smart Window beta in the US and Canada, with a wider release planned for other regions in the coming months. Mozilla is also working to expand form-filling support to dropdown menus and PDFs.

The integration of AI for form filling, powered by Google's Gemini, signifies a move towards more automated and context-aware browsing experiences. By leveraging data across open tabs, Firefox aims to streamline repetitive tasks like job applications, potentially setting a new standard for browser utility.
