I designed a nose guard for my dog and gave it away. Now 500 dogs wear one

A customizable dog nose guard is now available for purchase, addressing a specific medical need for sun-sensitive or medicated dogs.

Omri Hillel, a designer, created a nose guard called SnoutCover for his pitbull, Billie, who suffers from discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE), a condition exacerbated by sunlight. Initially designed to keep medicinal ointment on Billie's nose and allow her to enjoy the sun, Hillel shared the design files online for free. This led to numerous requests from other dog owners who could not print the device themselves. Hillel then launched a small website to sell the SnoutCover, which he personally designs, prints, and packs from his shed. The business has grown, with over 500 dogs now wearing SnoutCovers, either printed by owners or purchased directly. Hillel has since refined the product, introducing a "Care" model for indoor use and ointment protection, in addition to the original "Shield" for UV protection. He continues to manage production and shipping himself, serving customers in 16 countries.

The organic growth of SnoutCover from a personal project to a business serving over 500 dogs indicates a significant unmet need in pet healthcare accessories, particularly for chronic conditions like DLE.
