Meta quietly launches Style Sketch, an AI fashion app that helps users put together outfit ideas using clothes they own, in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand

Your existing Instagram photos can now become AI-generated outfit suggestions, reducing the need for manual uploads to other styling apps.

Meta has launched Style Sketch, a new AI-powered fashion application, currently available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand for iOS and Android devices. The app enables users to create a virtual closet by connecting to their Instagram account to pull photos of their clothing, or by manually uploading images. Style Sketch then generates outfit suggestions using the user's existing wardrobe, with options to virtually try on the outfits on a personalized avatar. It can also suggest outfits based on specific occasions, weather forecasts, and trip itineraries. The app was first identified by social media consultant Matt Navarra and Meta has not yet commented on broader release plans.

Style Sketch leverages Meta's AI capabilities to offer personalized fashion advice by analyzing a user's existing wardrobe, potentially setting a new standard for digital styling tools. Its integration with Instagram, a platform already rich with user-generated visual content, offers a unique advantage over competitors that rely solely on manual uploads or direct photo capture. This move signals Meta's strategy to embed AI into everyday user activities, extending its ecosystem beyond social media into personal utility applications.

The app's ability to generate outfits based on weather and trip plans, alongside virtual try-ons, addresses common user pain points in fashion planning. For users, this means more tailored and practical style advice accessible within a familiar social media environment, potentially influencing how they interact with their digital wardrobes and make purchasing decisions. Competitors will need to innovate on personalization and integration to keep pace with Meta's expanding AI-driven utility offerings.
