Microsoft thinks its new Copilot ‘super app’ will be as influential as Office

If you use Microsoft 365 for work, your AI assistant now has capabilities that can run tasks autonomously, even when you are offline.

Microsoft has officially launched a new Copilot "super app" that unifies chat, coding, and AI agent capabilities into a single interface. The app features three tabs: Home, Code, and Autopilot. Home combines Copilot Chat and Cowork, offering a personalized dashboard for emails, meetings, and Teams threads. The Code tab, a new addition for knowledge workers, allows users to build and share apps and automations within their organization, leveraging technology similar to GitHub Copilot. Autopilot, formerly Scout, is now a cloud-based "digital teammate" designed for enterprise use, capable of running tasks and monitoring channels while users are offline. This app emphasizes enterprise security and governance, with usage-based billing for certain features, alongside traditional user subscriptions for core Copilot access. Microsoft aims for this "AI built for work" to be as influential as Office was for the PC era. The Home and Code tabs will roll out to the Frontier program soon, with Autopilot entering private preview later this month.
